Sauna Room Guide · Specification research, not hands-on testing · 2026-10-29
Start with the equipment the label describes
Both terms appear on infrared products, but they do not replace an emitter specification. Ask which heater components are fitted, where they sit and which functions can be controlled separately. Record whether the documentation describes the whole cabin or only an optional panel.
The selected Solstice 2 is marketed as an infrared cabin, while Equinox 2 is marketed as full-spectrum. The Equinox owner manual describes wall heaters and additional front-corner heaters with their own control. That is a concrete equipment question you can compare; it does not establish the output delivered to every seating position.
Evidence: Source 1
Keep red-light panels and heater controls distinct
Do not assume that every light advertised inside a sauna is the same feature. Check the component description, the separate controls and whether a panel is standard or an add-on in the selected SKU. Mood lighting, a heater and a dedicated red-light panel are not interchangeable entries in a package list.
A specification comparison can record those components. It cannot turn a wavelength label into a measured treatment dose or a personal health recommendation. If a seller provides output tests, ask which model, position and operating mode were tested rather than treating a generic series label as a complete report.
Check whether the premium changes the installation
An upgrade can change equipment while leaving exterior dimensions similar. It can also change the total rated input, connection or space kept clear around the heaters. Use the exact configuration rather than copying installation assumptions from another product in the family.
The Equinox 2/Solstice 2 comparison shows why to keep the questions separate: their current recorded exterior envelopes match, but their published equipment and rear-allowance information are not identical. The common footprint cannot settle which cabin best suits your room or preferences.
| Question | Evidence to request | What the evidence does not prove |
|---|---|---|
| Which emitters are supplied? | Exact component and package specification | A standard meaning shared by every brand |
| Which controls are separate? | Applicable owner manual | Measured output at your seating position |
| Does installation change? | Local supply and clearance documents | A common voltage means identical connection |
| What does the premium buy? | Dated quotes with the same scope | Better comfort or a personal health result |
Compare the price difference on a like-for-like quote
Use the selected cabin, heater system, controls and any required extras when recording the premium. Check whether delivery, assembly, warranty service and powered accessories have the same scope. A headline starting price may refer to a different option and should not become the basis for a universal upgrade claim.
Ask what you would actually use in normal sessions. If the answer depends on trying a heating layout, recognise that a specification table cannot supply that experience. We have not tested either cabin’s heat distribution, emissions, comfort or long-term performance.
Choose with a short evidence checklist
A defensible shortlist identifies the documented equipment difference, the installation consequences and the quoted cost difference. It also identifies what has not been measured. That is more useful than assuming that the longer product label is automatically better value.
Bring those three findings to the exact-pair comparison and use the fit tool for your own room. If the package has an optional powered panel or a different heater revision, obtain the updated supply and installation requirements before applying the base-record result to the upgraded configuration.
The local records behind these examples
A limited research sample, not a best-product ranking. Dimensions and rated input use the same records as the tools.
