Outdoor sauna dimensions: measure the roof, not only the cabin

Two correct measurements can describe different things

The Bristow product sheet lists a 50-by-50-inch cabinet and a 61-by-61-inch roof footprint. Those figures are different parts of the same product. Planning only the cabinet could omit an obstruction at roof level. Our record uses the roof-inclusive envelope and explains its basis.

Measure the site at more than one height. A low wall, fence cap, drainpipe, gutter or projecting eave can occupy space above an otherwise clear base. Record those obstructions before comparing widths and depths. A rectangular bounding box helps screen dimensions; it does not reproduce every surface of a product.

Barrel diameter is not the installed height

A barrel has cradles, a roof covering and a curved section. Do not turn its diameter into a total installed-height claim. The SaunaLife E7 dimension drawing separates the overall height from the barrel width and shows cradle spacing separately from the full exterior length.

Use the drawing orientation when recording width and depth. A side-view length can be mistaken for front width, and shipping-crate dimensions are a different task again. Where the product page rounds a dimension and the exact drawing supplies a more precise figure, preserve the source and original unit instead of inventing a new measurement.

The outer envelope does not include every required allowance

Roof-inclusive width is a physical first screen. Ventilation, heater clearances, door access, assembly work and maintenance can require more room. A source that provides roof dimensions has not necessarily specified safe distance from a neighbouring wall or fence.

The fit tool checks the known envelope separately from installation requirements. If the documented envelope exceeds measured space, it can identify that conflict. If it fits but the required allowances are missing, the installation remains unresolved. This is more useful than adding the same arbitrary gap to every outdoor model.

Keep a site sketch with the quotation

Mark the cabinet, roof extent, full height, door direction, nearest obstacles and the place where panels will be assembled. For a barrel, add the supporting cradle locations and the proposed heater package. Ask the seller which drawing revision applies to the actual shipment.

Foundation strength, drainage, weather protection and electrical preparation require their own answers. A size calculation does not approve them. Save the source-led sketch and unresolved questions with the quotation so the installer and seller are considering the same configuration.
